Computing and storage resources that support research that uses specialized or highly intensive computation, storage, bandwidth or graphics.
AI Supercomputer
The DGX On-Prem runs intensive machine learning and deep learning workloads. By requesting access to the system, users will be able to run Jupyter notebooks, JupyterLab, as well as Python scripts that are particularly GPU-intensive. Additionally, any of the available containers that are provided by NVidia on the DGC Cloud can be pulled and used with the system.
DGX Cloud
DGX Cloud is a powerful AI cloud computing platform equipped with NVIDIA DGX systems, offering faculty members access to advanced GPU-accelerated computing for a wide range of research applications.
Empire AI Alpha
Empire AI Alpha provides UAlbany researchers with access to a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence computing cluster housed at SUNY University at Buffalo.
Empire AI Beta
Empire AI Beta provides UAlbany researchers with access to cutting-edge AI computing infrastructure featuring the world's first academic deployment of NVIDIA DGX GB200 SuperPOD technology.
Gitlab
Software that combines the ability to develop, secure, and operate software in a single application, in turn allowing for collaboration and visibility throughout the DevOps lifecycle.
Grant Budgeting
ITS offers consultation related to grant budgeting in the areas of specialized research storage, virtual machine use, and protected research environments for sensitive data.
Guest Accounts for Research Collaboration
ITS offers guest accounts for research collaboration and research data file transfer purposes. Guest accounts may be requested for non-UAlbany researchers and include access to the ITS research storage system and high-performance computing cluster.
High Performance Computing
ITS manages local high-performance computing (HPC). All researchers at the university can leverage this instrument to enable scientific discovery.
Jupyterhub
A multi-user Hub that spawns, manages, and proxies multiple instances of the single-user Jupyter notebook, a web-based interactive development environment for notebooks, code, and data.
MATLab
MATLAB is a high-level programming environment used for numerical computation, visualization, and programming. It’s particularly popular in engineering and scientific research for tasks like data analysis, algorithm development, and modeling.
Research Application Development Support
Consultation and technical assistance for researchers developing applications in containerized environments, including help with Docker and Singularity container creation, optimization, and troubleshooting during the development process.
Research Application Hosting
ITS can host faculty-developed research applications using user-provided Docker containers to enable cross-collaboration and dissemination to the broader research community.
Research Lab Directory Maintenance Request
Service request for faculty members to manage user access to their research lab directories, including adding new users (faculty, graduate students, research staff) or removing users who no longer need access to shared lab storage and computing resources.
Research Storage
ITS provides 10 TB of shared storage for research groups and a 10 GB home directory quota, accessible either on workstations or the high-performance computing cluster.
Research Workstation and Device Support
We provide support for computing equipment used in research. This includes workstations used for research regardless of funding source, any machines purchased with research grants, and all computing equipment located in research spaces.
RStudio
An integrated development environment (IDE) for the R programming language.
