Report an Incident with the High Performance Computing Cluster

The Report an Incident with the High Performance Computing Cluster form allows researchers to notify ITS when something is broken, unavailable, or not working as expected in UAlbany’s High Performance Computing environment. Use this form to report access failures, job errors, service interruptions, performance problems, or other unexpected system behavior.

What’s Included

  • Problems connecting or logging in to the HPC cluster

  • Jobs that fail, stop unexpectedly, or do not run as expected

  • Unexpected problems with job submission, scheduling, or resource allocation
  • Errors involving HPC software, modules, libraries, or computing environments
  • Problems accessing research storage from the HPC cluster
  • Unexpected performance degradation, service interruptions, or unavailable cluster resources

What’s Not Included

  • General questions or assistance when nothing is broken. Use the Other High Performance Computing Support Request.

Eligibility

Researchers with access to UAlbany’s High Performance Computing environment.

Requestor Responsibilities

  • Describe what happened and what you expected to happen

  • Include the exact error message or relevant log output

  • Provide the affected job ID, when available
  • Identify the software, module, environment, or command involved
  • Indicate when the incident began and whether it affects other users
  • Indicate whether the incident prevents work from continuing
  • Provide the steps needed to reproduce the incident, when known
  • Be available for follow-up questions or troubleshooting
  • Do not include passwords, access tokens, private keys, or other credentials in the request
