Description
The IBM AIU Spyre Cluster Access Request allows UAlbany researchers to request access to an on-premises research computing environment equipped with IBM Spyre Accelerators. The cluster is designed primarily for AI inference workloads and supports research associated with UAlbany's Center for Emerging Artificial Intelligence Systems (CEAIS) and its collaboration with IBM.The environment uses Red Hat OpenShift for container-based computing and supports compatible AI inference workflows.
What's Included
- Access to IBM Spyre Accelerators for supported AI inference workloads.
- A Red Hat OpenShift environment for running container-based research workloads.
- Support for compatible PyTorch-based AI inference workflows.
- Access to available Red Hat OpenShift AI functionality, where supported.
- Self-service documentation and instructions for connecting to the cluster and running supported workloads.
What's Not Included
- General-purpose GPU computing or accelerated model training. Researchers requiring these capabilities should consider the AI Supercomputer or High Performance Computing services.
- Guaranteed compatibility with all AI models, software frameworks, or container images.
- Automatic access based solely on having an AI inference workload. Requests must meet the applicable research eligibility and technical requirements.
- Guaranteed availability of specific computing resources or functionality still under development.
- Assistance with issues unrelated to the IBM AIU Spyre Cluster. Other research computing services may be more appropriate depending on the request.
Eligibility
UAlbany faculty and researchers may request access for research projects appropriate for the IBM AIU Spyre Cluster and the IBM/CEAIS research collaboration.
